Yin yoga comprises long-held, static postures that invite you to deepen into sensation through props, support and breath. In the stillness, you become more of your edges and how to soften into them. The postures act as gateways to deeper awareness—a truly blissful way to relax, receive and realign.

My name is Alana. After having practised, studied and taught for many years what lights me up to no end is the uniqueness of each individual. Every single one of us is a timeless, essential piece that makes up our human collective and how you show up in your life touches all those around you. Everyone is an individualised aspect of the divine in human form. People’s character and personalities vary greatly, yet we all come from one source. It’s easy to forget this, it often gets clouded over with busy schedules, commitments and the non-stop to-do lists. The more people act and move unconsciously the deafer they become to hearing the calling from within. Coming to the mat offers an opportunity to shift awareness from doing to being, outer to inner and chaos to consciousness.

Yoga opens the doorway to return to your sanctuary within, even if you have lost your way or forgotten that such a place actually exists. But it is always there waiting, waiting for you to return home. You have your own unique path paved with wisdom and gifts to share.

I’m here to act as a guide and return you back to this awareness that is inside you so you can offer it to the world. I’m here to help you connect with your own inner light, your Soul.

The classes focus on using the tools that Yoga gives us to achieve a better way of living. While working out our body we will focus on the control of our mind. Learning how to enjoy the relationship with the own body, how we are, what we can do and what we can’t, but mostly, what we may do to be the best version of us.

Yin Yang yoga comes from the Taoism concept of having two relatives qualities on everything. Yin being more passive, internal and cooling while Yang is more external, dynamic and warming in nature. When it comes to yoga, yin is a slower practice where postures are held for longer working on your connective tissue and joints but most important on your mind. Yang is a more active practice, building strength and estamina. Both of these practices are needed in order to create a sense of physical, mental and spiritual balance in your yoga journey. In this class we will merge both styles. You can expect to activate the fire element within you through a vinyasa sequence, connecting the breath with movement, followed by some earthy, rooting postures which allow you to relax and calm down your nervous system. Please remember that a yoga practice happens mostly off the mat, but I do hope, during this hour together I'll be able to share some tools that you can use in your daily life.

Zumba is a fitness program that involves cardio and Latin-inspired dance. It was founded by Colombian dancer and choreographer Beto Pérez in 2001.

Mayra is from Chile and will dance you through amazing choreography

OUR STYLE

We offer a safe, non judgmental & nurturing space for you to explore & get back into your body.

You will notice a base, common structure to all our classes. We always begin in Savasana, then Pranayama, Asana then a return to Savasana to integrate the changes we have made in our body & mind. This sequence can then be carried through into you daily life in a much shorter version.

All classes are beginner friendly however if you are seeking something extremely challenging your teacher can certainly get you there safely.

In every class we always say that there is no such thing as the perfect pose. Everyone has their own perfect expression of each Asana & we will meet you wherever you are at.

HOW WE WORK

In keeping with tradition WARM FLOW YOGA should always be done in the morning. This is a time to rev up your engines for the day & ride that high for the rest of the day. Evenings should be reserved for more introspective practices such as YIN stretch YOGA

What to bring
Clothes you can sweat and move in — leggings or shorts and a tank top
AERIAL YOGA requires knees & arms covered & absolutely NO JEWELLERY.
A bottle of water
Mats are provided.
Bring LARGE towel or sarong to cover mat with.
A bath or beach towel to cover your Yoga Mat
Don’t eat for 1 hour before class
Be well hydrated

YIN stretch YOGA (non heated) are totally beginner & pregnancy (2nd & 3rd trimester) friendly.

AERIAL YOGA is very strenuous & requires a lot of strength. Much of Aerial Yoga in enjoyed upside down in inversions.

CONTRAINDICATIONS?
We ask all clients unsure if Yoga is appropriate for them to reach out to their doctor BEFORE making a booking with us. We DO NOT provide a list of contraindications as this is best provided by your doctor. We support all students who work within their limitations & Conditions even if it easier skipping posers altogether.

ETIQUETTE

Doors OPEN 15 minutes before class.

Arrive at least 10 minutes before class, as there is no late admittance

Doors locked 5 minutes before class.

Check in at reception for all classes

Observe silence in the yoga room

No personal belongings in the yoga room other than water and towel. There are boxes in the change rooms for valuables or at reception for larger items

No phones in the yoga room.

Listen carefully to the teacher’s instructions

You may lie down at any time to take rest. We LOVE it when you do because your body needs it.

We are always looking for unique health offerings & workshops for our Members & Students to enjoy.

We can provide a beautiful space with Yoga Mats, Chairs, Cushions & more for up to 16 students.

We work on a commission basis & care happy to 'share' any marketing you provide us.

Alternatively if you are running a YOGA RETREAT with multiple classes prices are:
$175 for 60 minutes
$195 for 90 minutes
*includes 1 x towel per student / teacher up to 18 people.

Dear Yogis!

We are looking for Yoga Teachers who would like to run their own regular classes, workshops or retreats at our beautiful Yoga Studio in Port Douglas.

We are looking to build our offering so that locals & visitors can enjoy a variety of Yoga & meditation offerings.

We operate on a commission basis (currently 20%) which includes use of the studio & we would support you by advertising you on websites & social media. We currently have a small, regular schedule & we are looking to replace that with other providers.

We currently have teachers that use Trybooking as a booking system with pricing between $15 to $25 per student which seems to work very well
